7 Days Trip to western Uganda, below is the detailed itenary for the exciting safari waiting ahead.
DAY 1: Set off from Kampala to Fort Portal
Begin the journey from Kampala and drive Fort Portal in Western Uganda. Experience different towns, scenery and tea plantations along the route. Make stops along the way to enjoy the beautiful views. On arrival at Fort Portal town, have lunch as you take a break from the journey.
Check in at Tooro resort hotel, have lunch while you relax a bit, then head to the King’s Palace, Tooro Botanical gardens, Ugandan’s living museum, where biodiversity is understood, valued and conserved.
Founded in 2001 as a Centre of excellence in plant research, Conservation, Education and Recreation, TBG is distinguished by the beauty of its diverse landscape and extensive collections and gardens.
As well as by the scope and excellence of its multidisciplinary exhibitions and programs. It is based in Fort Portal City in western Uganda.
Drive back to Tooro Resort Hotel where dinner will be served, and then have a goodnight sleep.
DAY 2: Visit different crater lakes and Amabere ga Nyinamwiru Caves
After breakfast, visit the different crater lakes, tea plantations and hike to the “Top of the world.” This experience is comparable to none and very photogenic. Please carry your camera for amazing photos.
Canoeing is also done while on the crater lakes, so if interested under a specialized guide, it can be done. Have lunch and then, visit the Amabere Caves for an amazing cultural, geographical and historical experience.
These rock caves, which are as a result of formation of stalagmites and stalactites, are named after Nyinamwiru, who was the daughter of the region’s ancient king, King Bukuku.
Legend has it that rocks which have dripping water are Nyinamwiru’s breasts, also you will enjoy the beautiful waterfalls at the caves, and hike Nyakasura hills for amazing views and more nature experiences.
Drive back to the hotel, have dinner and then a goodnight sleep.
DAY 3: Rwenzori mountains
You will transfer to the footsteps of the mountain, to start the climb up from 1,450 to Sine Hut 2,680m
This hike starts from the valley floor, through tall forest trees and continues with multitudes of birds, and a chance of seeing blue monkeys scampering off through the forest.
You will see Enock’s falls which are just 200 meters, from sine hut, there you will capture a great screen saver for your memories.
You will be transferred to Equator Snow lodge, where you will have dinner and have a good night sleep.
DAY 4: Visit the Springs and transfer to QUEN
After breakfast, you will visit the Kasese hot springs, the, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will have lunch, and have a boat cruise after lunch.
After the cruise, you will visit the Kitagata hot springs, then you will head to Kabale. Overnight will be at Birdnest@ Bunyonyi resort.
DAY 5: Kabale – Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, you will visit the 29 highlands within the area. Have lunch at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort. After lunch you will enjoy the zip lining, high rope courses, swimming.
Head back to Rock resort, have dinner and sleep
DAY 6: Drive to Kisoro
After breakfast, you will head to Kisoro, where you will visit numerous natural caves, which include Ngarama cave, Mwambike cave and Ruhenju cave among others.
These caves were initially used as hiding places for Batwa pygmies. Local guides will guide you into these caves with the help of a torch for light. Also, remember to wear gumboots to deal with the muddy grounds inside these caves.
A boat cruise the calm waters of Lake Mutanda will be done, The 60.5-meter deep and 26 square kilometers lake is one of the four lakes in Kisoro district, along with Lake Mulehe, Lake Kayumbu, and Lake Chahafi.
Lake Mutanda comprises 22 islands each of which is unique in its way and worth exploring. A cruise to Winner’s beach Mutanda, offers you a fresh feeling of the natural undisturbed natural beauty with less or no crowds.
Overnight at Mutanda lake resort.
DAY 7: Head back to Kampala
After breakfast, you will hit the road back to Kampala.
