Elephants are one of the most tourist attractions found in Ugandas national parks .they are one of the largest land mammals despite that they are gentle animals.Uganda is a home to two subspecies of the African elephant namely:African savannah elephants and African forest elephants.
Physical characteristics of elephants
General physical traits include ,large ears that help them to regulate the body temperature
A muscular trunk that is used for feeding,breathing, drinking and communication
Grey,wrinkled skin that helps them retain moisture and repel insects.
Adult elephants can stand up to 4 meters tall and live for 60 to 70 years in the wild.They are social animals that live in groups led the female older. They are herbivores and can spend up to 16hours a day feeding .they feed in grass,leaves ,fruits among others. an adult elephant can eat up to 300kgs of vegetation and drink over 100liters of water.
